OK. Ragga is What's Up!

Your girl, Fitness Diva always has her ear to the ground to learn what's new and hot in fitness. You would think that everything has already been done, but hey, there's always something new to get us excited and ready to jump up outta that chair!

IMO, Ragga class is something to seriously check out. I'm looking to find me one right now so I can process it and bring it to my own peeps in a class. I also need to get on the Caribbean music video channel pronto. I actually used to teach a Reggae dance class quite a few years ago, but I let that go when it became all about kick boxing for me. Been slackin' a bit! My wine has gotten a bit rusty, so I'ma have ta fix that! Check this out! It's a SIZZLA'!

Another hot class!

Naomi Campbell Makes Good...

And you thought she was just hell on wheels 24-7. Not so! As much has been publicized about her tirades and anger outbursts against assistants and such, it should also be known that the model is very involved in many humanitarian efforts, her latest being establishing both a rehabilitation center and school in Nairobi, Kenya.

As reported by Paul Gitau And Kipchumba Kemei:

International super model, Ms Naomi Campbell will establish a drug rehabilitation centre and modeling school in Kenya.
Campbell, who arrived in Malindi on Friday in a private jet, said she was discussing the matter with a prominent person in Nairobi.

She was addressing a news conference on Monday at Lion in the Sun Hotel in Casuarina, Malindi, where she spent the Easter holiday.
Campbell said: "I decided to establish a rehabilitation centre after seeing many productive people get addicted."
She urged foreigners to tour Kenya. (more)

Way to go, Naomi! We know there's a heart under that bad girl exterior! ;)

The King is Toppled From His Throne...

Well, 3 months into the new season, and it's official. The dominant reign of Roger Federer in men's tennis is over. Or at least at a pause. It's shocking how quickly this has happened. Just last year, R Fed was his usual excellent self, assassinating opponents left and right, instilling fear in all from the locker room on. At one time he really was unbeatable. Now, the list of guys achieving that on the circuit is growing. It's actually becoming its own new club.

He's now being beaten by not only the top seeds, but surprisingly this weekend he also got wiped out by 98th ranked American Mardy Fish (in straight sets!!!). I'm sure we all fell off our collective chairs the moment THAT match ended! What the hell is happening here?

Whatever it is, I hope he shakes it off soon, and gets back to being the Roger Federer we all know and were in awe of. No man on the tennis circuit has ever exhibited such a fierce and complete arsenal of weapons and talent on the court. Even though I love Novak Djokovic as heir apparent, I still want to see Roger Federer give all these guys a real run for the money for at least a few more years to come.
Is it over already? Say it ain't so, Roger!

Okay, Is This Crazy, or What?

OMG. Just watch.

When you shop in this mart in Bangkok, be sure not to forget to wear your running shoes! By the way, I had no idea that commercial space was THAT scarce over there!

Pole Dancing the New Fitness Craze - In China

Well, is nothing sacred? Everywhere in the world now, you can find striptease dance classes, erotic dance workshops, and that old strip club staple, pole dancing. "Pole dancing. It's not just for strippers anymore!"

In the past couple years, the stripper pole has become such a pop culture item, that people have begun having them installed in their houses. You no longer have to go to the Jiggly Room to find a woman swinging and undulating on a pole. Just go home.

The Chinese, who tend to follow popular American trends closely, are now mad about pole dancing. Pole dancing classes have popped up in all the major cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, and membership is exploding like crazy.

Luo Lau, a Chinese dancer who caught the fever after seeing her fist pole dance in Paris, came back and decided to open her own pole dancing studio in Beijing. For about 1200 yuan a year (roughly $15 a session), you can take this class a few times a week. The once conservative and demure young ladies of China now show up for class in sexy go go boots, high heels, short skirts and belly shirts to learn this new art form, and to learn to express the more sensual side of themselves.

As Luo Lau explains: "It's not about sex, it's about fitness". Under the guise of that motto, Chinese women are willing and able to take it to the limit and really let go, becoming not only fitter, but getting to express freely the more sexual side of themselves. As stated before, membership is up, and the classes are packed. Many will travel far and wide to get in on this athletic and sexy workout.

What's next? You should almost be afraid to ask, in this day and time where no longer is anything taboo. I can only imagine what the next fitness trend is going to be!

Last Chance to Shred Some Snow...

Well, as you know, the snowboarding and skiing season is a short one. Kind of a November to March, early April thing (if you can find someplace still making snow!).
Unless you live in Iceland or close to one of the poles, it's pretty much getting to be crunch time. Boarders far and wide will soon resignedly hang up their snowboards, and then turn to their "summer sports".

So my snow friends and I have been scrambling to try to get another day or weekend in! This hasn't been easy, because the last two weekends have been horrible weatherwise. Either blizzards, non stop rain, icy conditions, etc. But it looks like we're gonna get to ride in a couple days, cause some good snow's a comin'.

So, while out here Googling all manner of snowboard and skiing topics, I came upon these boards where people discuss their skiing and snowboarding injuries. Not really the best thing to do if you're squeamish, but I'm not. I also read somewhere this blog of a guy who snapped his tibia coming down the mountain snowboarding. I'm like, "damn...that had to be wicked painful". Hmmmmm.... Let's see if we can find a pic of such a break! Well, I dug up not only a tib break, but a fibula AND tibia break in the leg. Check it out!

Pretty gnarly, huh? LOL. Makes you think twice about what yer doin' up on that there slope! I know I plan to be careful as HELL. I'm not getting brought home with one of THOSE. Unh uh! Looks like it would take a damn long time to heal, too. Poor thing! I bet that person was out of commission for months!

Anyway, here's keeping my fingers and toes crossed on my next snowboarding trip! It's gonna be too fun! And DO NOT tell me to break a leg!

A Lively Little Jig for Ya!

I'm an aerobics NUT! I'm always out here trying to find the next thing aerobic. Aerobic striptease, aerobic tennis, gospel aerobics, jail house aerobics, aerobic cooking, aerobic dog sledding....Hey, what 'cha got? I'll try it at least once!

I stumbled across this cute little video of aerobic Irish dancing, and just in time for St. Patrick's Day! How about that?! It's definitely a few minutes of fun, and you WILL break a sweat from the jumping. I ran it and did it twice in a row. Do it 3 times and you've got a good little bit of cardio in for the day, for sure.

I do, however, have a question. Anybody... What is the deal with the non movement of the arms in Irish dancing? I actually started to add my own arm movements to the routine, because I'm so used to moving ALL of my body when dancing or exercising. So... What's the legend, rule, tradition, reason, etc, for keeping your arms stiffly down by your sides when doing this type of dance? Come on, you smarties, I know one of you knows...! Clue a diva in!

In the meantime, enjoy!

Spring Tune Up

It's already March!! Crazy, isn't it? So, spring is just a couple weeks away, basically. Funny thing is, with this eerily warm weather we've been having lately, you won't have to wait long before the overcoats, sweaters and outer layers are all gone.
There will be no more hiding those belly rolls!

If you haven't already, now is the time to really get your exercise program in gear.
Start small, so you don't overwhelm yourself. A 30 to 45 minute jog, run, bike, or swim 3 x a week, or pop in an exercise DVD that you like and DO IT! Once again, 3 times a week is what you'll need to commit to to make a difference. After you get into the swing of things, start to add more time to the activity, or add a couple more workouts to your schedule. And be sure to include some weight training in your plan. The first couple times out will be hard, but tough it out, and do it.
You'll feel so much better afterwards.

Start getting your fitness on now, and there'll be nothing to hide when that sweater finally does come all the way off in a few weeks!

, tune up

My Favorite New Game!

If you are the LEAST bit of a gamer, you will love the hell out of this one! I think I must have fought everyone by now. Funny thing is, I can't seem to win as Hillary! Hmmmmmmm.....

Don't skip the training. Very important, Grasshopper!
(you might want to skip that intro, though)
