The Sexiest Man in Tennis

Ok...I had to wipe my chin of drool. I'm okay now. Anyone that follows tennis knows the incredible, jaw dropping hotness that is MARAT SAFIN. Jesus....how could one man be blessed with so much beauty? He not only is the greatest looking thing to ever hit the tennis circuit (move over, Kournikova!), but he also has a smouldering quality about him, and from what they say, is also quite charming. Imagine that! ;) All I know is I definitely enjoy watching Marat play!

The good news for Safin fans is that he's still in the running at this year's Wimbledon, having just dispatched Lopez in 3 sets to make it to the quarterfinals (for the second time ever). Heck, I'd like to see him go all the way, wouldn't you? Let's just hope Marat makes it through the next round. Just another big reason to keep on tuning in to Wimbledon 2008 on ESPN! Go, Marat!

When They Don't Smile Back...

In this sourpuss world we live in, a smile is a good thing, right? I had a lovely lunch today and everything was just so good and my waiter was SO nice that it left me smiling! That smile stayed with me all the way til after I got on my train to go home. Most people that I looked at smiled back, as smiling is contagious, I think! ;). All with the exception of a waitress that was standing at the door of the restaurant as I left. I shared my smile with her, and got back this mean look of stone. Made me wonder who peed in her Koolaide. Oh, well. Can't make 'em all feel good, huh? ;)

Back on the Salad Trail...

Whoooo....what a weekend it was! Beginning with a party Friday night by a good friend, hanging out Saturday night after my yoga experience (the gloves came off!!), and socializing on Sunday with my roller blade group. I hoisted many a mug throughout all these festivities, let me just say. It was BIG FUN!

So, now that I've let the wild one out and let her have her run for a few days, it's time to pull it back in. Picture me at the grocery store loading up on fresh veg's, ready made salads, chicken breasts and a ton of diet soda. Yep. Cause that's how I do it. Back to the good clean life again! That is, until the next event pops up on my social calendar! In the meantime, pass me that water! ;)

Yoga in the Middle of Times Square

...and I'm gonna be right there! Each year, an event called Solstice in Times Square gives outdoors yoga class right in the middle of Times Square with all the tourists, traffic and usual mayhem of TS going on all around. We will be in the heart of it in Duffy Square, that little triangle where people usually line up to buy Broadway show tickets.

I CAN'T WAIT! I'm not the biggest yoga follower, but to me, this is an opportunity not to be missed! So if you happen to be passing through Times Square sometime later tomorrow, you might just catch me in the middle of a warrior pose, a tree pose or a downward facing dog! I am SO going to represent! This is a yoga event of epic proportions, and I'm so excited to be a part of it! See you in Times Square!

Ready for Summer?

Because it's finally here! Time to get out and get that new swim suit and maybe pick up some new shades and flip flops. I definitely need to update my beach wardrobe, so in the next few weeks I'll be shopping for a couple new bikinis! For some of us, that's an agonizing task, squeezing yourself into all manner of spandex and lycra creations just to find 'the one'. I, as a rule, really don't like shopping (for clothes...food? that's another matter altogether!). For me it's something to get through and get over with.

I'm not one of those women that just wanders into a store to see "what they have" or "what's on sale", spending hours trying on this and that. I shop like a guy. Need something...go get it. And exactly it. I might pick up an accessory or two to go with the thing. And that's it! I don't browse and peruse the aisles looking for the next delightful thing. That just bores the hell out of me! lol. Nope. Never been a "girly girl" when it comes to shopping. So, I will decide on a couple colors, think about a type of style I want, and then off I go! Will probably take me an hour, tops!

Then it's gonna be fun, fun, fun in the sun! I can't wait! ;)

Bet You Can't Do This....

...for the entire 5:43. This is an intense and somewhat challenging African dance workout

Warning: You should do a stretch and warm up first! Now, if you do finish it, you deserve a cookie! If you can get through the hip gyrations that start at 4:40 and do them all the way through, you deserve TWO! Have fun, and good luck! ;)

The Reward System

One way I've found to keep on track with my good eating habits is to not only give myself a "free reign day" once a week, but to also use my social events or any special dinners I have coming up as a reward for being good. I have a dinner at a Cajun restaurant coming up on Thursday, and plan to eat whatever the heck I want on that night. So here, in the days before, any time I am tempted to cheat and go buy some Haagen Dazs or mozzarella fries, I just remind myself to wait until Thursday. I put the image of myself thoroughly enjoying this great food and drink I'm going to have in mind, and say to myself "if you go get that ice cream, you'll have to restrict yourself at the dinner". Well. I have NO INTENTION of doing that! lol. So that little check and balance is enough to pull me back in, and I end up not going to buy the 'naughty' food. The dinner or night out in the near future becomes a reward that I have to work for, the work being sticking to my lower carb, no sugar eating plan. And guess what? It works! I have stuck to my plan! Sometimes you have to come up with different ways to discipline yourself, and this is but one of a few I have that works pretty well for me.
Right now my 'go crazy on Cajun' night is two more days away. Can't you just taste that fried catfish? This place also makes down home recipe baked mac and cheese! I'm gonna have me some FUN! ;)
