Afroborike = Absolutely AMAZING!!

These are the clips that make me wish that I had aspired and studied to be a dancer. They are truly some of the most awesome, beautiful, incredibly athletic people on the planet!
I'm a big fan of America's Best Dance Crew, which is now in season 4. Dance has evolved to an entire new level, just in case you all didn't know this. Here, my ABDC pick of the week is by a lil' group called AfroBorike. I just call them Afro-Incredible. Be sure to watch until that last, ridiculously awe inspiring move!

Hilarious! Who Can Actually Do This?

This is one hell of a yoga pose. I'm wondering if this is just some crafty video editing. Only Cirque du Soleil performers could master such a pose!
I won't even try! ;)

Why Bring Your Dog to the Diner?

Just wondering, and I'd really like some honest answers. Here in New York where I live, all outdoor cafes are not only the domain of just humans anymore; people have decided that this is also a great venue for their dogs.

I have nothing against dogs, and actually like them and grew up with them. Would have one now if I could. But I really just don't get this "take my dog to eat out with me" trend that is prevalent and widespread nowadays at outdoor cafes everywhere I look.

I was eating at one of my favorite outdoor places yesterday, and the guy at the table next to me had his cute little shitzu sitting up in the chair across from him. The guy asked for a second glass of water, as the waiter had only placed one, and next thing you know, he's holding the glass down for the dog to drink water right out of it. I'm thinking, okay....that's just taking it a bit too far, no?

I think that it's great to be able to get your dog out more, and it's also a bonus for some that an increasing number of places are becoming more dog friendly, but don't you think there should be at least some boundaries to the whole thing?

Do you take your dog to the cafe with you? How about letting the dog drink out of the same glasses and/or eat off of the same plates provided for the patrons? (I've seen that, too!!!). Even without those little particulars, are people just becoming way too attached, or trying to humanize their pets a bit much here? What do you think?

Just askin'! ;)

I Love Jumping! - Bench Jumps

Jumping is one of my favorite little things to do when I'm working out. Jumping rope, jumping up on steps, frog hops, or jumping up on a bench, I'm into it. I make people that take my fitness classes jump, too! It's a skill that you definitely need to keep up even as you get older. Never know when it will come in handy! ;)

Here I am doing one of my favorites - Bench Jumps
(you may have to stop my auto vid in the upper right corner to get this to play in real time)

Jumping is great for leg strength, core strength, agility and it helps strengthen those abdominal muscles because you tense up and hold your stomach muscles every time you jump up onto something.

I have a fitness friend who can jump up onto a desk. But he's so fit that it's ridiculous! While I love jumping up on things, proving that I can jump up on a desk is NOWHERE on my list, trust me!! I think being able to jump up on a bench is cool enough! LOL!

To begin, start with something lower, like a step with no risers. Then add a level of risers after you get good at the low level. Don't start out by trying to jump up on a bench! It's a bit advanced of a move, and you might get hurt!
When landing, bend your knees to absorb the impact and prevent the jarring of your joints. Both feet land at the same time. Try to make as little sound as possible when your feet hit the surface of what you're jumping onto. Like I say to my class members "jump just like a cat, on little cat feet". You never hear a cat when it jumps up on anything! That will help you to learn the exact moment to bend your knees so that you land safely and with those abs totally tight!
Try some jumps in your next workout! I will come back through here with a few more varieties of jumps that I like to do in my workouts. Best to start with basic ones first, though. Happy jumping! ;)

Skating In Paris

One of these days, before I die, I'm gonna do this. I've been hearing about it for a while. Just need to go ahead and book that plane ticket! ;)

What's funniest to me is the fleet of ambulances following them. Just in case, huh?
Paris will see me and my blades someday real soon!
