Snack Time!! What's In Your Snack Bin? :)

So, my stomach happened to mention to me that it was snack time, and I had to laugh at myself when I looked into my snack bowl that I keep on top of the fridge and saw this:

...So ANAL....OMG!! I mean, I just have it all balanced out, don't I? And no, I didn't arrange it all in advance for this post! (well, I did stand the two cakes up in the bowl before snapping the pic, but you know...it has to be photogenic for a blog post..;)

When I saw it I realized that here I have the 3 main snack groups:

Not Healthy

Little Debbie Boston Creme Swirl Cakes

Healthier

Cherry Nutrigrain Bars

....and Healthy! (or 'Healthiest', if you will...)

Good Ole Apples!

I have come a long way, baby, because some years ago that thing would have been filled with Twinkies, Yodels, chocolate chip cookies and Twizzlers!
As for the Little Debbie thing... well, every now and then I just have to have it! And I'll tell you, that Boston Creme Swirl Cake is nothing more than a mouth full of processed creme and sugar (that makes my eyes roll back in my head). But I love 'em! I only put them in the shopping cart once in a while, though, and when I do, there is a little happy dance that goes along with that occasion.

I believe you can eat anything you want -- as long as you don't eat those naughty things all the time. Little Debbie and her more popular cousin, Hostess only get to visit my house about every six weeks or so. If they come any more often than that, we'll be having problems. Those two always try to take over and start running things, ya know?! ;)

So, what's in your snack bin? Anything good and healthy? Are is yours full of Cheetos, Doritos and Double Stuffed Oreos? Or are you a trail mix and power bar kind of health nut? Do tell! I might want to trade! ;)

When a Salad Stops Being a Salad

....and really just becomes a melange of fats and extra totally unnecessary calories on your plate. Cobb and Chef's salads immediately come to mind. I mean, who doesn't want to knock back bacon, bleu cheese, avocado and deli meats while chewing through some lettuce, tomato and other cool little vegs? I know I like it! But, when I'm trying to cut the cals, all that other stuff (like the cheese and the bacon) has got to go~! Adding those items can contribute up to 300+ calories to what is supposed to be a low calorie option. And that's even before adding dressing! If you're really trying to keep tabs on your weight, skip these meat and cheese laden salads, or at least take the larger portion of items like bacon, and cheeses off of the salad. That way you can still enjoy the taste of these lovely creations without sabotaging your diet. I mean, some of these salads are so loaded and rich that at the end of it, you might as well have had a cheeseburger!

We've become so creative with salads lately that we're beginning to miss the point (well, at least one of them) of having a salad in the first place -- to ingest something a bit healthier than usual and get some fresh vegetables into our bodies. Don't fool yourself into thinking you're doing the right thing by eating loaded salads all the time. Cut back on those extra toppings and you'll cut out a ton of unwanted calories and fat.

I need to go and de fat a Cobb Salad I bought from Wendy's this afternoon as we speak. Hey, I had to try it! They just came out with their Cobb salad, and Cobb has always been a guilty favorite. I was already addicted to that Mandarin Orange one....once I knock off some of that bacon and cheese, we will be in business! ;)

The Fitness Diva - Five Days to Fabulous!

And just in time for the summer! Yep, another E book from yours truly. It was about time, right? I really planned to have this out two months ago, but life does interrupt.
However, without any further delays, I am now proud to present to you my latest work, "Five Days to Fabulous!", on sale now!

This is a "drop the weight and slim up fast" program, meant only for special occasions and events -- not a life plan. I've done some crazy things in the past to lose weight in just a few days for a photo shoot or to make weight for a boxing or kickboxing match, but over the years I've fine tuned that process and come up with ways to do it that are effective and safe. Thus, 5 Days to Fabulous was born!
Now, back to the drawing board. I am SO not done! In the meantime, enjoy! ;)
Oh, and you can get it here: 5 Days to Fabulous
