Are you getting enough?

It seems like every day we are bombarded with messages about how getting your 5 a day is vastly important and how it can be detrimental to your health. But do any of us actually know why it is so detrimental not to get your recommended intake of fruit and vegetables?
Everyone has heard of Vitamin E and knows why it is so important to the body, how it is needed to protect the skin and that it can help slow down the aging process. But do many people know it can have other benefits to the body?
Recent research has shown that so called ‘bad’ cholesterol can cause blockages in coronary arteries which may lead to atherosclerosis and heart attacks. It has been suggested that Vitamin E can help delay or even prevent this by limiting the oxidation of the ‘bad’ cholesterol.
There is also believed to be some link between an increase in Vitamin E and a decrease in the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. A high intake of Vitamin E is also found to reduce the possibility of developing cataracts.
With so much evidence to show that Vitamin E has so many beneficial qualities for us it is perhaps not surprising that doctors are trying to get us to increase our intake and that there are so many supplements out there.
What maybe surprising however is the fact that a recent study showed that the intake of Vitamin E by women aged between 19 and 50 averaged as less than 90% of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA). The same study showed that men within the same age group averaged out at closer to 100% RDA. When you consider that the RDA is the minimal requirement your body needs and any less means your body is in deficiency this is a scary thought.
There are often debates about whether we should be getting our intakes from the food we eat alone or whether it is okay to take supplements. But even the most hardened detractor of supplements will agree on this one we need as much as we can get.
You can take a look atthe healthy food storeHolland and Barrett today for all your health supplements.

Vitamin E does work wonders to a human body as stated in the post. I believe that everyone needs to just control what they eat and take your vitamins. That would guarantee a better and healthier lifestyle.

Vitamin E is fat solvable, and as such can lead to poisoning in the case of overdose. Which I do agree, is rare.

How is it that its fat solvable and might lead to poisoning? Is there such a thing of having too much vitamins E?

Whether you take vitamin E for your heart, your skin and for whatever reasons, it's great to know when to take and when not to. We've heard a lot about the great health benefits of Vitamin E being the "chief executive antioxidant", likewise, knowing the clear risks related to this vitamin is also important.

Almonds are high in vitamin E! Better absorption than taking supplements. Also, working out helps with vitamin intake too.

I’m speechless. This is a superb blog and very attractive too. Great work! Your arm workouts should last no loner than an hour. Do your triceps first and then don’t do more than 5 sets per muscle. You should rest 1 to 3 minutes in between sets to make sure your muscles are recovered. When combining bicep and tricep exercises into one workout do only one arm workout a week. Your blog has turn out to be a stepping stone for me, Thanks for sharing with us…

I have a HUGE issue with vegetable consumption. I drink green shakes now after working out, but as for fresh ones? If it's not spinach, broccoli, asparagus or chard and touched by some sort of dairy, I 'm probably not eating it.

Great blog!

Hi Thefitnessdiva! It caught my attention when you mentioned that Vitamin E will help decrease in the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. The reason is all my grandma and grandpa are suffering from this disease. To be totally honest I a so afraid in the future because I think I will have this kind of disease. I will make sure to take vitamin E so that i will not have this kind of disease. Thanks for the awareness and more power to thefitnessdiva.blogspot.com!

I take vitamin E capsule for a while. It protects the cells in the human body from free radical damage. Physical fitness can be easy with chi machine. I bought chi machine for my father as he's suffering from arthritis. And I remembered how easy it was to use and how effective it was at getting the circulation going in the leg areas.

I get my vitamin E for free during the morning sunshine. I go out of house and embrace the sunbeam at the same time having a walk or hike on the near by park.

Before you take any medicine or pill, make sure it is for the better and not for the worst. It is best if it is prescribed by the doctor.

why people like instant things to get healthy body..?

well the sun is the only vitamin you can get for free and it's unlimited. So take time to feel the sunbeam during 6-9 in the morning. Since some places have high temperature and and can cause serious skin damage or worse skin cancer.
