The Web Diva

Going into my 3rd year blogging and publishing sites on the web, I'm finding myself to be ridiculously busy these days. I never knew that this would become such an addiction!! I now run 5 blogs (6, if you count the one I pretty much abandoned in January), and have built about 10 non blog websites. I'm a domain name junkie, and if I told you how many I own, you'd think I'd lost my mind. The thing is, it's hard to keep up with it all, but I still keep publishing webs! I think I have a problem...... ;)

So, having been a Blogspot blogger from the start, what the hell made me go and start up a Wordpress blog? OMG. So NOT Blogspot!! A whole new set of skills to learn here, and at this point, I'm muddling through it. But at the end, it's going to be worth it. I got a great idea to start a blog about another one of my favorite hobbies, and a beautiful, kick ass Wordpress theme to put it all on. I can't wait until it's ready! I'm not giving details on what the blog's about until it's up. I'm paranoid about people stealing my ideas. Hell, I've already had people come on here and steal my content, but such is life on the web, right? But I will post about it here when it's done.

But man, let me just say, my brain has been sweating the past couple days, learning how to get everything arranged on a new format. One thing I love about Blogspot blogs is that you pick a name, sign in, and a few clicks and some drag and drops later, you have a blog! You don't have to know anything about a database or php, whatever. But this will be good for me. I want to be able to publish on any format, anytime, anywhere. I don't like being limited! ;)

I think that I'm a web addict because I love writing. I'm ADDICTED to writing. Now, on my latest blog, The Trainer's Corner, I'm playing around with some of my fiction writing skills. That's going to challenge me in a new way, because I can write informative posts and articles with my eyes closed, like nothing. But, I want to get something else going.... to spice things up a bit, and also, just to give me another reason to write!

I need to hit Lotto soon.... lol. I could sit on the comp all day just writing and updating sites. So far, that ain't paying the bills, though! ;)

Are any of you as addicted to blogging and web publishing? I said before that someone needs to start a 12 step program for us. "Step AWAY from the computer..... Okay, get dressed, and go outside....NOW!" lol!

I do love it and had become quite addicted, but my schedule just won't allow me to spend as much time online as I'd like too...and I only have one blog!

And let's not discuss social sites, I just don't even try to get to them.

I'm slowly starting to see a blog addiction forming. Before blogging I did a lot of website design and that was a hard habit to break. Good luck on the new blog. It won't take long to get used to the Wordpress side of things.

I thank God for my job...
I get lots of hours off, and then, I head out the door to teach a couple classes, which amounts to about 3 hours out of the house, depending on where I'm teaching. If I'm training someone, it's an hour and a half.
That leaves plenty of time to be on the web! lol
I don't think I'd survive with a regular job.... it would keep my away from my laptop for too long! I'd be sneaking it to work and trying to use it on the sly in the ladies room or something! lol

Other than Hi5, I never really got into social sites too much. Good thing! ;)

Hey, Angel, it sneaks up on you... especially when you really start to get into your blogging.
Sometimes, there's nothing I'd rather do than come out here and build a page for something. I am even considering taking some programming classes, so I can get into the deeper aspects of web design. Who knew I'd be a web junkie some day? lol
Yeah, I know that there's always a learning curve when you start something new. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to work Wordpress, but learning the ropes at first is always a pain...

Hey,hey, this sounds great. embrace your passion of the web!! Hehe.
Yes, you should start some programming classes!
Good luck with all :)

Thanks so much, Leo! Yes, I've been thinking about it for some time now, taking programming classes. So much stuff to learn. I want to be able to throw up sites like the big boys (and girls!). My knowledge of HTML and a little Java and CSS has gotten me far, but I know that's only scratching the surface!

I am embracing my love of the web completely...
And the great thing is, that it's embracing me right back! ;)

Take care!

Like Shelia, I only have one blog. That's about all I can handle. I envy you guys with two or more, it's fantastic!

I skipped over to your Trainer's Corner site. Great information in a writing style that hooks you right away! Keep up the good work and congrats on embracing the technology for web design, you just never know where it will lead you.

Thank you for the compliment, Jacqueline.
Yes, it's true...you never know where it might lead. I'm hoping for someplace on a beach with my laptop and an umbrella drink in my hand! ;)

I would have to say it's not an addiction but a hobby and another form on entertainment. No one finds it odd if you watch tv for several hours an evening, but if you decide write something or read something online it's considered an addiction. If anything, you're actively enhancing your communication skills and enhancing your knowledge.

Learning new things is fun, but hard, too. And I love playing on the inner-nets and visiting all of my friends.

Just curious, having so many blogs, are you earning a lot from adsense?

The Fitness Diva said...

LOL, Daisy! I like playing around on the inner nets, myself! :)

gina, I make Adsense income, but nowhere near the staggering amount that I've heard that some people make on it. I see a Google check every 2 to 3 months or so, and that's only been recently, since I've stepped up my marketing tactics for my sites.

My best money maker ever was from my parked domains on Godaddy parking. That was at least $125 to $150 a month til they shut me down! (said I was using marketing tactics that were against their TOS)
The Google income is getting better ,but it's nowhere near what I made with cash parking!

I haven't been blogging long, but I can say that i'm addicted. Every time I see or hear something interesting all I think about it was a good blog topic it would be. I actually started a second blog that's not anything like the original (diaryofastrongblkwmn.blogspot.com)

I definitely feel you on the writing. I think I would curl up into a ball and die if I couldn't write. It's a lifeline for me.

I'm very proud of you. Congrats on all your blogs and sites. I look to you as sort of a mentor in this blog world and you've helped me in more ways than you know. Thank you.

Aw, thanks so much, Tammy. I'm happy that you're out here in the blogosphere with me! Most people that aren't into the web or blogging just don't get what all the fuss is about! At least I know YOU know, and being able to read your blog has also helped me get to know you even more as a friend, and more deeply than those occasional social events that we see each other at ever could!

I'm proud of you also, because you're doing it! I see your progress is coming along well, and pretty quickly. That's fantastic!
You always have my back here on the web, girl! (and off the web, too, if you ever need it! lol)

Let's keep blogging!

Big hugs, Tammy>

I have a lot of blogs but tend to focus on just a few. The ones that make me money are my primary focus but my weight loss one keeps me focussed so I do a lot with that one too. I have 6 blogs and 3 other websites!

I have my hands full with writing for 2 blogs...But I keep it up because my blogs help get me more jobs and then the vicious cycle of writing and marketing continues.

Don't have time for social sites though.

Yes, I too am an addict. But I only have one blog! How on earth do you do it? I love your Fitness Diva blog. Now I'm off to check out your other blogs. CYA!

The Fitness Diva said...

Thanks for all your replies, guys, and thank you, Laura, for the compliment! Coming from another another highly esteemed fitness blogger like yourself, I'm honored!
It's also not easy when you have a brain that goes non stop! I think of ideas for a new website just about every week, hence all the domain names I have bought.
I have visions of websites and blogs that I couldn't possibly ever start and then maintain adequately, but we'll just see how it goes, shall we? Wish me luck! ;)

Divaaaaaaaaa, your soo busy 5 blogs?! YOu are a superwoman, I can see in your widget photo. If you're addicted to blogging, so am I and i will never stop unless there are good reasons to stop.

Oh boy I totally understand, I started almost 2 years ago creating websites and have quite a few neglected ones out there... my problem is I jump around from idea to idea LOL..... I have a very unattended mummy blog floating around on blogger, along with other sites, but my latest project I am excited about, it's all about my hobby and my life so it's easy to write about and hopefully inspires others too...

Thanks for a great blog, I really need to follow it and get some sort of fitness happening around here!!

Wow, fitness diva. Just missed your blog for a few days and now I see that you've got very steep increase in your comments. Great Job!

I'm not sure if you've already known but I've only got one blog so far which I only started earller this yeaer. In fact, I'm still struggling on maintaining it. With such time constraint, I'm still weighing on the option of joining social networking sites to increase traffic to my blog.

You're addicted but in a good way! We need to follow your 'step program' to gain that level of commitment. It's just one way to let your passion for learning and sharing explode. As long as you attend to the necessities and don't neglect loved ones, you're okay. I have only one blog but have poured a lot into learning about blogspot and blogging in general, while avoiding WordPress [too much to handle right now]. Like you, I'll end up using it at some point! Good luck.

I would rather read 100 blogs from people like you that are passionate about what they have to say, then 1 that comes from a source that's in it only for the money.

Keep up the good work and I look forward to reading your new blog in the making.
