When Your Week Starts Off Just Right

Sometimes you just have one of those perfect Mondays. You wake up feeling refreshed, energized, and ready to tackle your week like it's nothing, and from the moment you step out of the bed, everything just falls right into place like it's supposed to.

I had just that kind of morning today. Got up to train my early am client, and when I stepped outside, it was a gorgeous morning (even though it was still a bit dark!). Nice, peaceful, thoughtful walk to the track where I train her, and before I knew it, we were done. Even though it was as nice a morning as it was, there weren't many people out.

On my way home from our training session, I decided that I felt like some pancakes today. I haven't had those in such a long time, but for some reason, they popped right into my brain this morning, demanding that I not forget how good they used to be to me. So, I sat down and had myself a plate at the diner by my house with a huge glass of milk, just like I did when I was a little girl. That was my absolute favorite thing, pancakes and a big glass of milk, and I remember how I used to make sure every inch of pancake was saturated with syrup before I ate it.
I didn't hold back on the syrup this morning, either! Hell, I'm gonna go big, or just not go at all!

Do you know that after my lovely little breakfast, I felt so good that on my way home I began to skip? Yep! A few folks looked at me as if to say "what the hell???", but I didn't care. It feels good to skip. You should try it sometime! Happy little leaps that send you bouncing down the street like a happy little ball. After a few of those happy little hops, you realize why kids do it all the time. Skipping every now and then is something I highly recommend. In fact, I think I made my client skip this morning. Hers were not the happy kind, though! ;)

So, now I get home and start my web tasks, which are many! I have to say, though, I do love Monday! Simply because I don't work on Monday (with the exception of that one client). No classes to teach, no commute, no need to pull any wicked choreography out of my pocket to thrill and amaze my class members, no brainstorming on the next way to try to kill 'em in the weights class. No having to put someone in check for trying to talk on their cell phone in class (the nerve!), or for being super late. Nothing but a long, relaxed, complete and total ME day, where I get to do whatever the hell I please! Trying REAL hard to get MORE Mondays in my life! ;)

When your week starts off right, you feel like you can rule the world. Well, at least your little corner of it. I'm hoping that you all have a good Monday and wonderful start to your week as well. And if not, well...there's always Tuesday! ;) Have a great week! :D

Sounds like you had a great Monday. Good for you. Mine was just the opposite. I rolled out of bed and threw myself angrily into the shower this morning. I really didn't want to come to work. I don't think i'll start kiciking it into gear until Wednesday. Hope the rest of your week is just like today.

Damn, those pancakes look good.

I am glad you had a good day. It is good when everything seems to go your way. My day was a good day also. I try to make all days good, but every now and then I will have a not so good one.

aaaahhh... Well, glad to hear you skipping along FD :). I hope your Tuesday goes just as smoothly!

For some reason your Monday blog reminded me of the movie Ratatoulle (SP?) ... when the chef started remembering what it was like being a kid from eating what was prepared for him.

I sure hope others saw that movie :-p or I"m all alone here.. LOL

Great post! Very positive and life affirming. It sounds like you felt after eating your syrup-soaked pancakes what I felt like Sunday rafting the river for the last time this season just taking in all the fall colors and the sunshine and the leaves floating in the water like colors in a Monet painting.

Yesterday I received a powerpoint presentation on how much we have more things, more conveniences, etc etc yada yada but less quality of life and fewer meaninigful relationships, etc. The point was to slow down, inhale more deeply, enjoy more moments, eat your favorite foods, spend more time with friends because life is short, etc, etc. It was pretty cool and yesterday was one of those days.

Today, I took an hour out of my work day to head up to the dam where they are emptying the penstocks prior to winter maintenance and painting. They were shooting the water out of release valves high into the air. The water was forming curtains of droplets over the river bed. It was spectacular. I'll probably post about it next Wednesday for wordless wednesday, but it was cool to see that once a year event--even on such a cold morning with snow flurries dropping from one part of the sky while the sky was blue and sunny in other places.

Anyway, nice post.

Hi Fitness Diva,

Going back to doing things we enjoyed as a child brings a lot of fond memories. It was a time when we viewed the world in simple terms, where life was pleasant, full of fun and laughter - and where truth was abundant.

I do some of those things at times when situations begin to be distressing and events can be depressing. I don't skip though, but I climb trees and linger on a high branch. Or I try to catch dragonflies and grasshoppers. Sometimes, I just make a kite and fly it!

It refreshes me and reminds me I have a great life and its wonderful to be alive. :-) --Durano, done!

Happy Tuesday! Ohhh the pancakes for breakfast, saturated with syrup with tall glass of cold cold milk. I'm sooo craving for pancakes now! time to skip to the grocery and get some pancake batter :)

No, you're not alone, hypnosis. lol
Thanks for the well wish.

matthew, I hope you got some great pics! That sounds like something quite amazing to see. Pics that capture moving water are always pretty cool. Hope you do post it!

Durano, if I could find a good tree, I bet I'd try to climb it like I did when I was about 12. We had a cherry tree, as well as a chinaberry tree in our backyard, and I made it my business to get ALL the cherries on that tree before the birds did! Even if it meant nearly killing myself, which I almost did many times!
Ah, the memories! ;)

Miss O, you skip on, then! lol

I seldom crave pancakes, but I do, RIGHT NOW. I'd sprinkle on a few pecans and some cinnamon, add that sticky syrup and its on!

Yep, I did...Will post next Wednesday.
