Actress Natasha Richardson Dies from Ski Injury

This is so tragic, and hits home for me because I was just out on the slopes two weeks ago.
Natasha Richardson, while taking a beginner ski lesson fell and bumped her head. Even though they were doing the lesson on the bunny slopes and the fall at the time didn't seem serious, she was taken to the hospital later after complaining of a headache.
As it turns out, the trauma to her brain was much more serious, and the actress died today.
At the time of her lesson, she was not wearing a helmet. This gives me pause, because on my last resort trip, I saw plenty of skiers and snowboarders with no helmets. Hell, I even took my first snowboarding lesson over a year ago without one (I didn't know any better), but after realizing how quickly and easily you can lose control on a snowboard or skis, you'd better believe I make sure to wear my helmet every time I go, now.

Bikers and street bladers, you should make sure to do the same. I need to take that advice myself...I was just out with my roller blading group this past weekend, and only our newbie in the group had a helmet on. Over confidence and carelessness can lead to a casualty, or at the least, a really bad injury.

My condolences go out to her and her family. It's unfortunate that what should have been a weekend of fun turned out to be deadly.

This is so awful and sad! One minute everything is fine and the next you are gone. Makes me appreciate what I have.

My prayers are with her family also. Life is so very short and I'm sure everyone was stunned to hear this news. I'm a biker and I remember seeing people in Ohio riding their motorcycles without helmets on and at first glance I was shocked and then thought, "how cool." As I continued to drive, the inner voice said, "I wouldn't dare."

Very sad story. I'm going to google the story and read more about it.

Thanks for sharing this.

Love, peace and blessings!

This is so sad! I feel for her family. It all happened so fast. I keep thinking of her young sons who will grow up without a mom. I had no idea she had such an exstensive theater background.

So sad to hear about what happened to her. We really we don't know until when we'll be living here on earth.

This really hurt. I was hoping she'd get well. I didn't think for one minute she'd pass away.

Yeah, it's actually a really shocking news! I loved Natasha Richardson's Asylum and Widows' Peak and she's really a great actress.

May Natasha rest in peace...

This was bad. I would not have worn a helmet either because it's just the beginners slope. Or so my thinking would be. I would totally not see it as dangerous. And everyone swears that she didn't fall that hard. You can just never tell. Very sad story.
