Wintertime Blues.....

Yeah, I'm singin' em', because winter has come early!!! Wha happen??? OMG!
It was snowing in New Jersey yesterday! This is not a pic of that actual snow, but OMG!!

I'm not waking up super early anymore, opting instead to snuggle in the bed under two, deliciously thick comforters until the very last second! Morning exercise is the last thing on my mind!
I'm also starting to crave hot chocolate, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. NOT GOOD! :O
I've also noticed that I'm suddenly getting a bit LAZY. The cat loves it, though, because she gets to curl up with me when I take all those naps....!

I'm gonna fight this thing, though. I will not let winter beat me down and turn me into a non active, comfort food craving, sleeping all the time slacker!!
The gloves are gonna have to come off...right now! Well, as long as I don't have to wear them outside! ;)

Does the winter make you feel slow and lethargic, too? I am going to start drinking some green tea in the morning for energy. That's what they do in parts of the world where it's super cold (and everywhere else too, now, I guess, since it's become widely known how good green tea is for you). That's one trick I'm going to try.....
I'm not a tea drinker, but I'm gonna become one now! ;)

What are your tricks for beating back the sluggish feelings that come along with cold weather? Other than consuming caffeine (which I really don't) I'm going to have to streamline my diet a bit by adding some power foods. Yep. That should do the trick! ;)

might be the worst advice i give....move outta there!
im a born and bread brooklynite and when i went to college in upstate we went days without seeing the sun :( sad days indeed. Reason number 29 the sun...thats why i moved to atl. But seriously a workout partner, trainer or photos of how you looked when you were at your peak can help...

Mike, I just have to figure out how to battle the sudden cold. THAT is what's keeping me in the bed and in the house! not that we don't have heat, but i swear, I'm a girl that thrives on sunshine and warm temperatures! ;)

It's been unbearably hot in LA. I think we can make room for The Fitness Diva so come on out!

I like the idea of hot chocolate for cold weather. But being non-active wouldn't be the style of the Fitness Diva right? ;)

I love this time of year. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE summertime too. But I like getting up early and taking my missy-girl for a brisk walk. It feels good to take in that cold air! It was 37 degrees on our walk this morning. And when I get home, I love a glass of green tea. Call me crazy... :)

Diva! What up girl.

Snow already? Damn... I'm in Canada and our temp is still in the teens (Celsius wise). Imagine that... it's colder down south than up north here. That's messed up.

I somewhat like winter though, you can kick more ass while sweating less.

Oh yeah, winter definitely makes me more sluggish. good luck on that green tea thing--it tastes horrible but I guess if you look around, you can find a kind you can stomach that is flavored with other stuff. I drink the kind with blueberry or Jasmine.

Hoping that I'll be more motivated to walk more this winter with my husband when he walks our dog.

I hear ya...winter is not my thing...I've always said "I should have been born in a tropical climate, at the very least Florida, but more like the Caribbean!!! :0)

How about more protein...I find if eat a diet higher in protein I don't crave the pasta, breads,etc...

Cheers

I have a real hard time in the winter, too. I find that if I bundle up and go do something active outside (even if it's only running around for 5-10 min.), I feel so much better. Going somewhere that's got a lot of light helps, too.

The picture is looking very beautiful. You need to move hot part of the world or take some survival step.

We are having heavy rainfall this week. The weather is cooler and nicer for sleeping but I don't like it when I have to go out.

I hope to experience the cold winter... one day.

Winter has a similar effect on me. I have to make an extra effort to stay motivated. I use self hypnosis and subliminals to achieve that. Other than that I like a nice bowl of stew in the winter.

This was actually one of the reasons I left the midwest and moved to Sunny FL. I got sick of the midwinter slump when you see the sun MAYBE once a week at best. I always battled it by spending time outside on those sunny days and keeping my fitness routine consistent and eating healthy. Haha...and then I left! :)
