I Tried to Watch the World Cup Today, But Those Damn Vuvuzela's....

.....about drove me stark raving mad after 5 minutes. I'm serious! After 5 minutes of it I was ready to claw my own eyes out. I had to flip the switch and watch CSI instead. I did try, though. I swear.

How the hell do you guys sit through that insanity??? Here I am, trying to branch out, broaden my horizons and embrace this world sport of soccer, and I didn't care who was playing -- I'd committed to sit there and get into it -- after watching Wimbledon, of course....
and those damn horns did not stop blowing for one full second! OMG! When did they start doing THAT? I swear, I don't remember hearing those crazy horns while catching a few minutes of it at the bodega last year.
I need to ask, are some of you watching the games with the sound off? That, to me, would make more sense.

I can't even fathom "getting used to it", and I don't want to try. I'll just find out who won later. The same as I always have. Enjoy the noise!

Whoever invented them should be tar and feathered while 1000 people blew them in their ears for a complete 24 hour period. :-)

My TV has this super awesome feature called a mute button. :p

You're right, though, that sound makes me want to drive spikes through my earballs.

Hmmm. I always watched it with the mute button on. Sooo, I haven't heard it at all. lol

I was going to say to switch it to the mute button when watching, but others here beat me to it.

While I do understand where you're coming from, my biggest issue is with crowd reaction. The crowd reaction isn't nearly as loud when a goal is scored because of that. At least from watching it on television, it takes away from that.

I don't think it will be used when the World Cup is played in Brazil in 2014.

Have a great weekend my friend!

I didn't really understand why folks were complaining about vuvuzelas until during the Nigeria-Greece match I heard Nigerian fans singing and making music. I immediately remembered what football sans vuvuzelas was like - folks making noise that didn't sound like a mosquitoes humming.

And what did I go and do? I got a vuvuzela app on my iPod Touch and shopped around for a vuvuzela online.

Join the vuvuzela madness, people!

=)

PS: that guy dancing all crazy like in the .gif is great!

Some of you guys need to just numb the sound out of the game. Trust me, most of you who complain about are just overreacting towards the sound. It's not like you can't hear the announcers or the fans screaming and making music. The vuvuzelas are just here for a couple of more days only!!
