Sereenaaaaaa!!!!!!!
OMG. She just killed me here. That Serena!! Having made it to the 2008 Sony Ericsson Open in Indian Wells, Miami, Serena Williams today faced Jelena Jankovic to battle it out for the title.
They split the first two sets, and thus went into a deciding third. That's when all hell broke loose! Serena crushed Jankovic in the third, and had her down 5 games to 0, and it was now her serve, the match on her racquet. Then the MELTDOWN began. Serena started making some of the craziest errors you've ever seen!! Moon balls into the stands, crazy misses of what should have been an easy return, and all over erratic play like you won't believe. Jankovic, having gotten a second wind, capitalized on it, breaking Serena twice. Before you knew it, it was 5 games to 3, Serena. Serena just let that lead begin to melt away. After being broken the second time, she let the frustration get to her more, and wrecked her racquet by slamming it into the ground. There was actually a bowl sized crater in the side of the racquet! Never seen THAT before! She completely wrecked it! She then, of course, got a racquet abuse warning, and deservedly so!
After a few more excruciatingly nail biting hits and misses, Serena finally got it together and pulled out the win. By then, we were BOTH exhausted. This girl really knows how to take you for a rollercoaster ride in some of her matches! That having been said, Serena has now won the Sony Ericsson title for the 5th time, breaking Steffi Graf's record of 4 wins.
Way to go, Serena, but DAMN....can we do it without all the extra drama next time? Geez! ;)

Hi Fitness Diva,
Reading your post was like listening to a live radio broadcast of the match. It was very well executed!
Are you sure you're not in the wrong business? LOL!
Side comments were bursts of excitement too! Great write up! :-)--Durano, done!
Thanks, Durano. I was right there, in my mind. When I watch these matches on TV, I'm that into it. And this one really was one roller coaster ride!
Can't wait to see what happens with Nadal and Davydenko in the finals today!
Wow! Sounds like she was channeling McEnroe for a minute or two. :D
