Staying Fit and Partying at the Same Time!!!

Haaaa....you know me. I'm not a health nut, I'm a LIFE nut!! I will not mislead you to think I'm just sitting here doing push ups, 6am runs and eating granola and bean sprouts 24-7. Aside from being a fitness diva, I am a bonafide PARTY GIRL! And I take BOTH very seriously! :D

So.... BIG party weekend coming up, no? YES. And mine is kicking off TODAY. A possible 4 days of complete naughtiness! Yeaaaahhhh! So, my workouts have been doubled all week long, and I've abstained from the fatty foods. I'm doing a lot of cross training in the form of cardio work, complex exercises with dumb bells, rounds on the heavy bag, and routines with my favorite new toy, the BOSU. Dudes! If you don't know about this thing (the BOSU), then somebody had better tell you NOW! I've been working with the BOSU stability dome for more than a month now, and am addicted to it! If you see one in your gym, GRAB IT! There are a million ways to train on it, and without a lot of time spent, you can get the best workout of your life. I love doing slow squats, balancing on one leg while doing weights and have created an entire menu of routines to do with this piece of equipment using both sides (which is the meaning of BOSU, "Both Sides Utilized" or "both sides up"). Use the rounded part for standing and balancing exercises, sit on it to do some of the hardest crunches and abdominal work EVER, and then turn it over to do push ups, planks and other upper body challenging work. I don't get as crazy with it as the people in this vid do, but the possibilities are there. 15 minutes on my BOSU and I am drenched in sweat. I usually work it for a half hour, doing 5 minute jump rope intervals in between sets. It's harder than it looks, trust me. Try it and see!

Okay, all you fellow party animals. Get to the gym or park and get your workouts in NOW. You have to pay before you play! That's the way the pros do it! ;) Happy 4th of July weekend!

I did the same thing, partied hearty the whole Fourth of July weekend. And man was it a blast! Back to the grindstone now.

Love your blog. I'll ad you to my blogroll.

Whoa... I have a lot to learn. I know all that takes some strength. I didn't see this prior to my other comment so please pardon my ignorance.

Hey, Urban, those guys on the video are nuts! Don't let them scare ya!

Do what I did...start a little at a time. Like, just do simple stuff on it, like squats, then work your way up to jump squats (while on top), lunges, etc. After you get to know the BOSU, and you MUST get to know it first, trust me, THEN you can start to play around.
Keep me posted on what you think about it if you ever do get a chance to use it.
