Lose Weight and Do Some Good for the World

Ok. That's what I call it, but the actual name of it is Lose for Good, a weight loss and fund raising effort by Weight Watchers to help kill two birds with one stone: reduce the obesity rate and combat world hunger. How's THAT for some real problem solving ingenuity? I think it ROCKS!

weight watchers
The premise is, join Weight Watchers FREE online (or at one of the walk in centers), and for every pound of weight you lose, they will donate a pound of food, at a worth of up to $1,000,000, to people in impoverished areas of the world. So, when you lose, someone else wins. Besides just yourself. You can take an incentive like that and really run with it, folks, knowing that your effort is also helping to put food on someone else's table. There are groups forming all over the country right now of people banding together to help make an even bigger impact in this humanitarian effort. You can do this on your own, or start a group where you live. I am posting this to help spread the news, and hope that other fitness bloggers out here do the same. It's a very worthwhile cause. All you have to do to get started is click on this link: Lose for Good

Additional benefits of joining Weight Watchers online is that you get help and tools to track your weight loss progress. Don't delay, because the Weight Watchers 'Lose for Good' ends Oct 18th, 2008 (although I have not a clue why....they really should keep this going for at least a year). I'm also going to mass email this info to the fitness group I run here in NYC. Please help pass the word on. Once again, this is free. And you'll get to help a lot of people.

By the way, I am in no way affiliated with, working for, or profiting in any way from Weight Watchers or any of its programs. I just think that this is huge, and hope that you do too. Please do what you can to get involved.

Ok, folks. Let's go lose some weight and save the world! What do you say? ;)

Hi Fitness Diva,

These are the posts you do that make your site unique. It has aspects of global and national concern as well as health and wellness.

And the previous post about housework and other ordinary daily activities - with the calories lost to boot!

Both posts are great and useful. I can see the sincerity of the intention and the patience in the effort. Congratulations! :-) --Durano, done!

Thanks, Durano.

I do try not to be predictable like most of the other weight loss and fitness sites out here. How many times can we all just spit out and regurgitate the same facts over and over again? That's what most that I've seen do, but I go for the gold! :D

I joined weight watchers couple years back. Not really happy result. Dont like dieting and being watched. We should be the one responsible and not cheating with our diet.
