Did You Know.....?
...that eating an apple can help you in your weight loss efforts? An agent in apples called pectin limits how much fat your cells can absorb! Consumption of pectin has also been shown to reduce blood cholesterol levels. Now, how's that for a helping hand? And of course you know that apples are high in fiber, which is a must have dietary staple for anyone trying seriously trying to shed some pounds. For optimum results, try to eat at least 5 apples a week. So, what are you waiting for?
Be sure to put apples on your weight loss grocery list today!

When I read this, I immediately thought about my husband, I swear he eats at least 2 or 3 "organic" apples every single day and has never had a weight problem.
I on the other hand, eat them in moderation because we had a multitude of apple trees when I was growing up, and I ate my share.
Guess I gotta figure out how to fall in love with them again so I can shed a pound or two. :-) Thanks for this post.
am sure glad to stumble upon this blog. wish i have my own personal trainer!!!
Hmmmm, I didn't know that. I eat Gala apples every day. I try to have at least 1/2 cup of fruit with each meal for the natural sugars. I had no clue I was helping out my weight.
You're always coming with the goods Fitness Diva...Keep it up!
I have always loved apples. And I have gone through phases on which is my favorite kind. First, I was crazy about MacIntosh apples. I used to sprinkle salt on those and go to town on 'em!
Then, I fell in love with Red Delicious apples. When you pick one that is perfectly crisp, there's just nothing like it! Can't be the least bit soft, though. They're at their best when absolutely fresh!
last, but not least, little green apples! I LOVE Granny Smith apples for their tartness. Those have the least sugar, I think, but they're tasty as hell. And you feel so health conscious when you eat one, I mean, they are GREEN, after all. What could be better?
Reminds me.... I need to go to the store! ;)
Welcome, Carnation! Hope you come back again! ;)
Hello Fitness Diva,
Quick question. Do you know if drinking "Apple Juice" will produce the same, or comparable, results as eating apples?
Manchild
Yes, Manchild, small amounts of pectin can be found in apple juice, as well. Looks for the cloudy, less clear types of apple juice. Those will have more.
Cheers fitness diva,
I was about to write I prefer Grenn Granny Smith Apples too! So glad you have the same opinion. Yeap, first because of it's taste and crunchiness. Second, because it's not that sweet and thus less calories compared to red one. Also, I loe its sourish+sweet taste.
