A Gorgeous Pre Winter Blading Day

Since the weather was pretty agreeable today, I decided to take my roller blades to work with me and hit one of my favorite paths after work. I'm glad that I got this brainstorm of an idea this morning, because the blade was incredible; the weather chilly and brisk, and I damn near had the entire 6 mile bike path to myself! ;)
Best kept secret - bike or blade in colder weather, and you avoid a ton of traffic!
There was noooobody home. Except other die hards like me!
I took my cam with me, and snapped some pretty fall photos along the way.

statue of liberty
A distant view of the Statue of Liberty from the waterfront at Battery Park City. I like the way the ocean and sky look in this shot.

battery park
It's definitely a fall scene on the Battery Park section of the bike path. I took some up close pics of the foliage, but I won't bore you with those! ;)

battery park ducks

The ducks were out today, doing their usual at the Battery Park City duck pond...

ducks

...how do they keep warm in this cold weather?

coast guard
I saw this group of Coast Guard guys along the way, and began stalking them, trying to get a good pic. Guess that didn't work out too well! LOL

wsh bike path
Finally on the West Side Highway bike path, and it's all mine, baby! I only saw one other blader today. Mostly there were folks in winter gear on their bikes, and a few pedestrians who use this path as their daily route to and from wherever. I need to blade in chilly weather more often! ;)

new jersey

My last pic, a view of the New Jersey skyline across the water. I love sunlight on the water pics, so I was glad to be able to get a good one here.

So, it was a worthwhile trip in more ways than one. I got a good few miles of rollerblading in, and I got to see the path decked out in its gorgeous fall colors.
I will do this bike path pictorial again when it snows, but I don't think I'll be on the blades for that one! ;)

It's great to enjoy a bicycle tour like this! A slow tour can give us more chance to discover interesting things.

Remind me those days in school. :)

Those are some nice Photos. I have never been to NY, always wanted to though. My little girl wants me to take her one, she is like me, she wants to see the statue of liberty also.

Iwalk, I love biking and blading. You get to see the true beauty of a place that way, especially a large city.

Dwayne, you'd better get here when you can. Your daughter will love Central Park, Times Square, and so many other things here.
Thanks for the compliment on the pics. I love whipping out my camera and trying to capture the moment. :)

Great photos! What a wonderful way to see the city. I LOVED New York when I visited back in 2002, but I haven't made it back there yet. I definitely plan to do so :-) I just fell in love with it. I love fall and know that it must be just gorgeous in Central Park during this time. Thanks for showing us around your city :)

Hi Fitness Diva,
You have some very pretty pictures you took on your blading day. Sounds like you had some fun and it's always great to have a place almost by yourself. When I go to our park, there is always people walking on the sidewalks paths. I enoyed your post, it was a very interesting read. Thanks for sharing this with us. Take care! :-)

Oh, these photos are beautiful. It seems like we only have two seasons in Houston--summer and spring. Even though I love the warm weather here, your photos remind me of some of the things I miss about the east coast.

It must have been great to commune with nature on such a wonderful day. The kind of beauty effect the mind, body and soul.

Hi Fitness Diva,

It's nice to see new images after being deluged by all those political photos of rallies and campaign rhetoric.

These are exquisite shots. Congratulations for being a very accomplished photographer. Is this one of your talents too? :-)

May I suggest taking photos on the inauguration of President Barack Obama - of people known to you as Republicans? LOL! That would be an interesting subject, don't you think? LOL!

Have a nice weekend. :-) --Durano, done!

Very cool pictures and what makes it the coolest is that I was there this summer. To have been where you are and see it from another persons perspective is the best.

I can learn much about your motivation to stay fit
