Mama's Got a Brand New Snowboard! :P

So, I have been chomping at the bit waiting for some snow because I now have my own snowboard! AND the whole set up! Boots (2nd pair), bindings, bag, etc. I started snowboarding last winter, and I gotta tell ya, it was a match made in heaven. I love boarding and can't wait to get back on the mountain and pick up some skills!

I'd been wanting to learn for years, ever inspired by heavyweights like Shaun White (my damn snowboard idol, seriously!), and met up with some peeps who were already into it who attend some of my classes at the gym. Well, after a couple trips to Vermont and hitting the trails upstate NY, I knew that I'd be back for more next year!

I already ski, and actually ski pretty well, but snowboarding is a whole other animal altogether. I don't feel like I'm working hard when I ski, but the effort it takes to direct and control your board, hitting the turns and catching your edges right requires some muscle and skill! I can tell you now, this is one sport you can't do if you're terribly out of shape!

So, now that I've got my own gear (last year I rented) I'm ready and game to go!
I have never wanted it to snow so bad!!! :D
I'm not even waiting for a trip...there are some wicked hills and slopes at the park close by my house, so as soon as a few inches of fresh powder fall, I'm gonna be out there carvin' it up, hopefully before the dogs pee and poo all in it! :O

Now, when I'm back here posting in a couple months underneath a pic of me with my leg or arm in a cast, you know what happened!!! :D Well, let's hope not!!!! ;)

Hi Fitness Diva,

I love the fact that you took photos of yourself in your snowboard - gear and all, plus the pose ala actually on the snow. Great form!

You are into so many things and I admire that. It would be difficult for an ordinary man to match your interests and skills - but I gues all he would have to match are your qualities of honesty, sincerity, generosity, friendliness, truthfulness, loyalty, affection and love, and social justice.

But seeing all you can do can intimidate most. Lol! Have a great time and don't break anything! :-) --Durano, done!

sounds like fun! wish i can join you for that! have a good time with the snow, when it comes...

I have several cousins that live in North Carolina, and they snow board all the time! They live in the central part of the state, so they can get to the ski slopes in just a few hours.

They are all in great shape too. They don't workout at all, they just play all day! Ah, college life.

Here we're we live, there is a golf course several miles away. When it snows, we get up early in the morning and head that way, because the golf club house sits on top of a HUGE hill. It is so awesome to slide down that thing, I can't tell ya. But it is one heck of a workout trying to walk back up that slope!

By the end of the day, that hill is nothing but mud, with so many kids coming out and riding that thing.

It sure is a lot of fun. So happy snowboarding!

Seeing all your picture made me want to think of a sport I can also engage myself with. It is nice to have a physical activity of some sort to combat the weight.

Looks like I'm not the only one with snow fever! For awhile up here in MT it looked like we wouldn't get any snow up here in MT, which is insane in Montana! Just two days ago it finally snowed to stay! Now if only the resorts would open!

Its great that you can balance on a snowboard and steer it! ;)
My balance on those things is H.O.R.R.I.B.L.E.

Dedicated skier right here- jumps black diamonds- no problem....on skies that is.

I attempted snowboarding once but lets just say I made the acquaintance of several trees the hard way. It was not joyful "affection" either.

O gosh, thank you so much for your wonderful remarks on my blog =)I love snowboarding too! Too bad I only get to do it when I travel, since it doesn't snow in Singapore

Ha, Health Nut, yeah....I'm somewhat of a test tube baby - the only thing I can't do is bowl. Oh, and I suck at basketball! lol But then, I never really tried to play that game at all, except twice! ;)

Durano, thanks for the compliment as always. Yeah, I have to hide some of my skills and abilities with the guys at first. I play all girly until I reel them in... and then, POW! ;)

It is fun, Shaxx...even the falling down part - which happens often! :O

Matt, my mom would agree with you on the nut part! ;)

Jacqueline, you're reading my mind!
Stay tuned - I do have some plans! ;)

Daisy, I bet you'd rock it if they made little cat snowboards! I can see you poppin' 360's right now! ;)

Paul, I bet there are some fantastic hills to ride in NC! I love me some North Carolina, but I've never done any winter sports there. Nobody in my family (almost all of my family lives in NC) is into it at all!

Thanks for stopping by, Robin!
Yes, I have all my safety gear ready, including my padded booty pants! Those reeeallly come in handy!

Thanks, Angel... I really love my board. Yes, snowboarding is a blast. For adrenaline junkies only! ;)

Hey, Utah Mommy, thanks for stopping by! Yeah, you can get pretty banged up and scarred up with this thing. I've seen it happen to other people! :O

Dori, skiing is really cool and fun, and it's not that hard to learn.
Hopefully you'll get your chance to try it soon!

Dr Diet, finding a sport or physical activity you love is key! It helps you to want to stay in shape so that you do well at that particular thing.
It also adds a whole lotta fun to your fitness regimen. When you're playing, you don't even realize what a workout you're getting!

Jade, I bet the snowfall up there is breathtaking, and you guys probably have mountains that make ours over here look like baby hills! I hope to be able to snowboard in Montana some day!
The fact that you ski black diamonds is awesome! I am a ways from doing black diamonds on my snowboard!

Dwacon, too funny! LOL!

TopSexyMan, your blog damn near left me speechless! ;)
I'm glad to know that you love snowboarding, too! So, you know how awesome it is! Hope you find some snow soon! :)

Cool Diva... WAY COOL! I can't stand the winter and only like a couple days of snow per year - and that's enjoying it more from the inside than the outside! hahahaha! I love watching snow boarding on TV (I'm a Shaun White fan too) and it looks like so much fun.

You can do anything well,Diva.

What Snowboard is that?

Man, I live in Washington state - big snowboarding area up here, yet I've never been. =\
My brother and I keep saying we're gonna go (he's an avid boarder) but just never have the time to do it.

I envy you!

I always wanted to snowboard, but the fact that there's rarely any snow down here in SE TX makes that a bit difficult...so as a yougster I got heavy into skateboarding.

Is snowboarding anything like skateboarding :?:

btw: I must admit that I came to this site mainly because your face on MyBlogLog strongly attracted me :)

Hello Fitness Diva,
You're so healthy and most probably no problems in life. Your being energetic only proves that exercise really is the best medicine. No matter how we drink vitamins and the like, if we lack the needed exercise like those you mentioned, achieving good health will always be a dream.
