Misty Water Color Memories.....

....of the way.... we were....

Hey, I'm not pickin' on Mike. This is actually more of a reflection on just how hard it can be to maintain peak physical form. We get older. Life happens. Life can also get in the way! Things change, money dwindles, resources disappear, other priorities take center stage....

There are many reasons why people fall off of their physical regimen, including those mentioned above. Another reason that some fall off is because they no longer have a goal or reason to be fit.
In Mike Tyson's case, the demise of his career absolutely has a lot to do with it. I mean, if there are no fights to train for, you don't train. At least not like you used to when you still had the eye of the tiger.
Mike Tyson
Here's hoping that Mike, and also any of you that have fallen off the fit and healthy trail find both the reason and the opportunity to keep that fitness going strong! It's okay to fall off the horse every now and then.... as long as you eventually get back on! Let's see about it, huh? :)

I fell off a number of years ago because of physical health reason and I was what some people called a fitness fanatic...I will keep trying to get on and stay on but it is tough so I fully relate/understand why some of us aren't as fit as they should be!!!

Happy Holidays!
Cheers

Its hard to remain fit for a long time... I mean you correctly said that priorities take center stage. But you should get back on track that's most important thing.

I fell off the the wagon for a couple of days due to Christmas and annoying family members who take up all your time. But I'm back on track for Monday. I can't afford to slack off anymore.

I have fallen off the horse, but have been working at getting back on. That is one of my New Year resolutions.

My motivation is that diabolical invention called the mirror. I remember what I looked like 15 months ago and I never want to go back. I'm still in the process of losing the initial weight, but I have come from 298 to 233 (with about 15 pounds of added muscle thrown in) in that time. I sure wish I knew a personal trainer that could help me target my back and shoulder muscles. Hmmm.....

It is very motivating to stay fit if that is your job and you're in the public eye-like most athletes or celebrities. I can imagine most don't want to see pictures of them on magazine covers with the words "What Happened?" :)

I remember Iron Mike. We would all gather in the college dorm to watch him knock out some scared cat in the early rounds.

My, how the mighty have fallen.

Wow; I didn't realize Mike was getting that out of shape--it wasn't too long ago that he was in the ring.

Once you lose your focus, it's usually an uphill climb to find yourself again.

Great write-up. Really it is very difficult to maintain a fitness when life changes and resources fall. Also aging is another obstacle as you tend to lose activeness in your body.

talking about falling off and getting on...i can definitely relate to that. i got married recently and my exercise regimen got all screwed up. i do light aerobics and basic pilates. but after a year of getting married i am slowly picking up the pieces. would you know of some beginner pilates that i can get on the internet for free? thanks a lot

Wow! What a great example to show. That is why I continue to eat healthy and exercise as much as I can. Good point.

Oh, that is terrible. What happened to Mike guys? I can't even believe my eyes.

I see this happen to many athletes. I think what happens is... these athletes are used to "eating" alot of calories, and doing alot of physical exercise to burn it off. But.. when they are no longer doing the intense excersizes they are used to, their body finds it hard to adapt to eating less calories.

Till then,

Jean
